The Executive Vice President of Tsinghua University leads a delegation to visit TASA
On the afternoon of July 26, 2019, WANG Xiqin, Executive Vice President of Tsinghua University, came to Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research (TASA) in Qingdao, Shandong, for field research, and listened to the report on the construction situation of TASA, which was made by ZHAO Chao, Deputy Dean of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University (AADTHU) and Deputy Director of TASA.
GAO Yanfang, Deputy Dean of the School of Clinical Medicine, Tsinghua University, ZHEN Shuning, Director of the Scientific R&D Institution Administration Office of the Office of Scientific R&D, Tsinghua University, and ZHU Tao, Deputy Director of the Domestic Cooperation Office, Tsinghua University, participated in the investigation. LIU Luqiang, Party Secretary and General Director of the Development and Construction Headquarters of Lingshan Bay Film and Television Culture Zone in Qingdao, Party Secretary, Chairman, and General Manager of Qingdao West Coast Development (Group) Co., Ltd., accompanied them in the investigation.
After the briefing, WANG Xiqin noted that TASA should actively promote industrial upgrading, focus on integrating innovative technologies with actual life, and lead the all-round industrial development with the collaborative innovation in arts and science related to "clothing, food, house, transportation, and education", with an aim to implement the national strategies of "becoming a strong country in culture" and "innovation-driven development", promote the technological and cultural achievement transformation, and serve the regional cultural innovation and economic development. Meanwhile, it is also necessary to attach importance to the planning and design of sports venues and facilities and implement and promote Tsinghua University's fine tradition of "No Sports, No Tsinghua" during construction.
Through this investigation, Tsinghua University and the local government exchanged the views and reached a consensus that both sides would jointly promote the construction of TASA, give full play to Tsinghua University's subject and talent advantages and Qingdao's regional and industrial advantages, draw on the successful experience at home and abroad, and take multiple means such as talent cultivation, business startup service, art-science integration and innovation, or art and culture exchange and promotion, to build TASA into an international first-class design and cultural product R&D base, technological innovation and enterprise incubation base, high-end talent gathering and cultivation base, art and cultural exchange and promotion base, emerging industries promotion and business startup service base as soon as possible. In the future, TASA will integrate various advantages of Tsinghua University and Qingdao, promote the achievement transformation, technology transfer, and industrial upgrading, and strive to build itself into a talent cultivation platform, R&D innovation platform, achievement transformation platform, and international exchange and cooperation platform, thus creating the national-level highland integrating the industry, university, and research of art design.
